03 Sep Road Tripping – Yabadabadooooo
Road tripping today.
Fantastic riding. The weather, perfect!
Quick pit stop outside Gundagai to see the Dog on the Tucker Box. He was recently vandalised. Great to see the little fellow sitting up proudly where he belongs.
Second pit stop Bowning and the fabulous Rollonin Cafe.
I knew I was in for a treat as I parked up. Rustic charm everywhere.
Miss Vikki and Miss Renata, in period dress, welcomed me as I stepped through the doorway, and back in time.
Beautiful slab hut – adorned with timber beams, newspaper lined walls and hessian ceiling.
After placing an order for a ‘world famous scone’ – for research purposes of course, and coffee I headed out the back.
What a delight-I was like a kid in a lollie store.
What to look at first! The emu pacing up and down the fence, more historic out buildings, beautiful gardens in full bloom, the horse, cow…..alpaca!
Did I see an alpaca!!! OMG yes, two of them! I could barely contain myself. I LOVE ALPACAS
Ohhhh there’s a peacock-isn’t he handsome! Striking colours, even more so in the sunshine.
Scone and coffee served. Good gracious! No wonder they’re world famous’ – the size of it!
I ate more carbs in one mouthful than I have eaten all week lol But, it was delicious. Sooooo good.
What a gem Rollonin Cafe is. A wonderful surprise in an unassuming little village.
I just love country towns and villages. They all have a piece of treasure-you just have to take the time to look.
And this piece of treasure, could be yours! It’s for sale!!!
Cafe, historic homestead and 8 glorious acres!
Owner Miss Renata said “ I just need to retire. Time for someone else to enjoy it”.
It comes with great staff too, Miss Vikki added, smiling.
I finally dragged myself away and continued up the Hume Highway, setting up camp at the Gordon VC rest area about 60km North of Goulburn.
Just in time to boil the kettle and enjoy a beautiful sunset.
