29 Aug Be Bold. Be Innovative. Be different!
Last week I found myself being judged for the lifestyle I had enjoyed and experienced – prior to my accident.
I was also judged, regarding my business.
“Perhaps it would have been be better for you to get a casual job, just a day or two a week, (in reference to my medical reports and requiring a sympathetic employer) earn yourself a $200” I was told.
Are you kidding me! How
I am almost 53 years old and someone is still ‘suggesting’ how I should be living my life.
After taking time to process, I returned to the scene of the crime, took aim and fired at the with both barrels. I was pissed! Let’s just say I didn’t not appreciate the gentleman’s condescending manner.
“How dare you judge me”. I didn’t feel the need to justify myself further. Nor should I have to. It is my life and my choices.
Now in terms of my business- “so let me understand something, you would have me sitting at a desk, licking stamps, earning $200 a week, being supplemented with a welfare payment”.
My business may not be earning $100 000 annually, yet, but I am not receiving any welfare payments for the first time in almost 3 years! Something I have been very proud of.
My business allows me to pursue my passions whilst managing a permanent injury.
In closing I told him I would send a copy of my business financials in two years. I believe and back myself.
This is your life. You don’t need to conform to suit the opinion of others on how life should be lived.
Break the shackles of social conditioning. Just do what makes you bloody happy.
Be bold, be innovative. Be different 🙂 x
